What is PRP Microneedling?
This is a type of facial where they extract the plasma from your blood combined with microneedling to improve your skin and to reduce wrinkles.
The microneedling device creates mini channels in the skin for the plasma to absorb into the dermis layer (deeper than surface level like when you apply products topically) of the skin.
This process helps improve hydration, elasticity, pigmentation, rescues acne scarring and reduces fine lines by stimulating collagen production.
How does it work?
PRP involves blood being drawn from a vein in your arm by a nurse who is qualified to do the procedure.
The blood is then put into a machine called a centrifuge and is spun to seperate the PRP (platelet rich plasma). This plasma is extremely healthy and is the “good stuff” in your blood that helps with the healing process.
That plasma is then extracted and used to rub on the skin in combination with microneedling so it goes into the skin through the small holes you are making with the microneedling pen/device.
Creating these holes and using the plasma helps to stimulate collagen, healing and improve elasticity.

Costs
This is the only REAL downside of this type of facial – its expensive. (Like everything else these days.)
You typically would need 3 sessions to see results and would need a session every 30 days (so 1 session a month for 3 months). After that you would need touch ups every 1-2× a year.
One session typically costs $600-$1000 dollars. So realistically, you can expect to pay up anywhere from $2000-$3000.
Before & After Results of PRP Microneedling
After you are finished, your face will be extremely red because you are creating tiny holes in the skin essentially that will need to heal. This redness goes away after 1-3 days and is completely normal. You will just look like you’ve smashed a bag of ketchup chips on your entire face for the first day and then very red a day or two after that.
Once the redness subsides, your skin will be glowing and any pigmentation or acne scarring issues will be less visible. People who do multiple sessions (usually 3) see great results.
Side Effects and Safety
PRP Microneedling is actually extremely safe because you are using your own bodily substances. Since there are no foreign products going into the skin, your body will simply absorb the plasma. This means the risk of infection is incredibly low.
Common side effects are brushing, redness and some swelling but this goes away after 24-72 hours depending on how sensitive your skin is.
Your face will be red afterwards since the device is making tiny holes in the skin but this also goes away around 24-72 hours and is a normal part of the healing process after the procedure.
Absolutely! PRP Microneedling is one of the safest and most effective facials you can do. The vampire facial improves skin quality, reduces fine lines, and helps with pigmentation and acne scarring.
The only real disadvantage of PRP Microneedling is the cost. You typically need 3 sessions and each session is around $800. Generally, the procedure is very effective and safe with minimal compilations.
Results last anywhere from 6 months to a year. You will need consistent touch ups once or twice a year afterwards.
