It’s the season for dry skin! So what is the best hydrating routine for dehydrated skin?
Dry skin is a pain and in those cold months our skin tends to get even more flakey and in need of hydration.
If you already have a skincare routine and it isn’t working you are probably wondering – what am I doing wrong? How can I combat dry skin? Well, let’s jump right in and quench that skin!
THE MORNING ROUTINE FOR DRY SKIN
CLEANSE
Do not over cleanse. Only do it once in the morning and once at night and ALWAYS apply face cream after.
Make sure to use a gentle, hydrating, oil based cleanser. This won’t strip your skin too much of its natural oils as other cleaners do.
SERUM
Use a light serum in the mornings before your face cream. I love using a vitamin C serum but If you want extra hydration you can use one with hyaluronic acid.
Make sure the consistency is light because if you want to apply makeup overtop or leave the house you don’t want a thick serum or cream weighing down your face all day.
FACE CREAM (ROUTINE FOR DRY SKIN)
Apply a face cream that contains hydrating ingredients such as squalene, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and other hydrating ingredients.
Avoid face creams that contain harsh chemicals and fragrance because this will only dry out your skin more.

THE NIGHT TIME ROUTINE FOR DRY SKIN
CLEANSE & REMOVE MAKEUP
If you like to use makeup wipes make sure to use one for sensitive skin because some tend to strip the oils from your skin.
The best way to obtain moisture while removing your makeup is to use micellar water. When cleansing, using an oil based cleanser just as you used for the morning is perfect!
TONER
Cleanse the skin further with a gentle, hydrating face toner. This wets the face before you put on your creams, allowing the product to sink further into the skin for longer lasting hydration.
FACE OIL & MOISTURIZER
This is the good stuff right here. Your skin naturally secretes oil and when it’s dry it produces less. Adding that oil back into the skin is KEY to avoiding dry skin.
Get a natural facial oil and add a few drops to your moisturizer. Then apply it to your face, it makes so much difference.
At night time you want to be using a cream called a “Rich Cream “. This means the cream is thicker and made to last longer on the skin. This cream is thick and heavier so you only want to use it before bed. This cream is made for people who have drier skin and it works wonders!
